Joy!

I came back home from a one-week trip away from home and had the joy of seeing my family again. Although the journey home was tiring and I was quite discomforted, the thought of seeing everyone again kept me going.

My dear wife opened the door and her face said it all. My daughter came screeming as she heard my voice! My son was asleep. Thank God for family. This is (should be) the place of intimacy and joy.

Father thank you for family. I pray for restoration in families around the world. May homes be the joyous place you created them to be. Amen.

Looking back, looking forward

Friends. I look back and thank God for the friends I have had over the years. God-given friends. This week has been a time of reflection after the privilege of spending time with friends, some of many years.

What touches me most is to witness how God has been dealing with each one, leading them step by step into purpose and destiny. Nothing just happens. Every manifestation of success has a history of dealings.

I now look forward to the things God will be doing through my dear friends, people God has raised for unique assignments. Not only will I be glad to be associated with them, God will also be praised for the exploits they will accomplish in the kingdom.

Thank you Father for the impact of my friends in my life, and the contributions I have made in theirs. Watch over them I pray. May we all bring glory to your name in our generation. Amen.

God can use anyone

What does God require of us before He uses us? You may think up a long list of requirements for sacred service, but all He requires is availability.

We are quick to disqualify ourselves because of our perceived inabilities, but God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise; the weak to overturn the strong. So, God can use you in spite of you. That takes the pressure off!

I surrender my life to you, dear Lord. If you can use anything, then use me. If there is anything you can do with this 'nothing', then by Your Spirit, do something that no one else can do; something that I cannot do by myself - use me for your glory. Amen.

For better, for worse

I recall the words of the marriage covenant this morning. A man pledges to his bride to love her no matter what condition they pass through. The woman does the same, committing herself to love "in sickness and in health, for better for worse." Some have said these statements should not be included in the marriage vows because they are 'negative.' I don't have a problem with them because they reflect an understanding that true covenant is unconditional commitment.

God did not promise us a life without tribulation. What He promised us is victory at every turn. Each battle has something to teach us; each victory brings glory to God in a new way. So, whatever the conditions of our lives, we can commit to God and be sure that He is committed to us. Paul said he learnt how to abound and be abased (Phil 4:12). He concluded that nothing can separate him from the love of Christ (Romans 8:35-39). This is covenant - "for better, for worse."

In just over 24 hours time, I shall be in the plane again. But I'm having to use Benylin for Flu to overcome a bit of aches and fever in my body. I'm having to trust God for the family's daily bread. In spite of these, my pledge of commitment is not waning. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Catching up!

There's so much to catch up on after weeks of a dead internet connection and days of being out of the country! Did I miss blogging? Yes!...

Thanks to God, anyway, for all that has transpired. What is foremost on my mind at the moment is preparations for another travel in 2 days. I have not had time to rest, it seems. Catching up with the children has been priority, and with my Mrs. of course. We spent the day together yesterday, which was very good (and we'll spend a bit more tomorrow). It's really not easy to leave family two times in a row, and just a few days after each other...

But God gives grace. He helps us through moments like these...

I've been able to catch up with my loved ones, and hopefully, will do the same with my blogs. The journey continues!

In the air!

Not quite yet. In a few minutes time, I'll be airborne to Kiev. God Embassy is 13 and Pastor Sunday is 40! Exciting!

Now, there's a lot to look forward to in this trip. A lot will be said when I come back (hope I'll be able to post a blog or two in Kiev)....

Racing against time in Gatwick airport... Lee's counting down the minutes beside me... fun! (good to have learnt touch typing).

Lord, make this trip special. I am looking up to you... Love ya!

Crying stones

The Greatest Well-digger in the World was dedicated last Saturday. The presence of God was amongst us and much happened that will, I believe, impact our land for good. I spoke a word from Luke 19, concerning the events surrounding Christ's entry into Jerusalem. The disciples welcomed Christ with jubilation and loud praise but the Pharisees asked Jesus to rebuke them. He didn't. Instead He said the stones will rise up in their place if they keep silent.

I have been thinking since then. In many ways, I feel like a stone crying out, a stone that has been given a voice for such a time as this. The things that God is asking to be done, I feel, has been demanded of many before now. I now have to step into an arena that others have refused to step into; I have to take up a mantle that others have rejected. This is humbling and sacred.

I am aware too, that as a stone, if I refuse to cry out, there are other stones waiting in line to do what I am now being asked to do. Lord help me! I surrender to you and will do anything you ask me to do. Only be glorified, I pray. Amen.
