Passion

Red, hot passion! The Lord requires nothing less from me. Without holy zeal, nothing can be accomplished in and for the kingdom. Turn it up Lord! I am ready to burn!

Determined

A race has been set before me. I am determined to finish - and finish well.
A task has been set before me. I am determined to finish - and finish well.
An assignment has been given to me. I am determined to finish - and finish well.
A mandate has been entrusted to me. I am determined to finish - and finish well...

So help me God.

I can trust You, Lord

It does not matter how hard the situations around me, I can trust in You.

No matter the darkness in the valleys of life, I can trust in You.

When things don't seem to go according to plan, I can still trust You.

You are always in control, especially when we lose control.
You are always on time, especially when we are out of sync.
You are always full of wisdom, when we run out of ideas.

I can trust You, Lord, to see me through.

The value of work

We were created to be productive. When our potential is engaged in fruitful endeavour, we feel fulfilled. When they lie fallow and unused, we feel frustrated. I learnt this in a new way today.

I did not have any defined goals or tasks to accomplish at work yesterday. It was not an enjoyable day. In contrast, I was given a whole load of data to work through today, with clear assignments and targets. It was a good day without the headache I was having yesterday.

The body reacts negatively to idleness. We function optimally when we are creative and stimulated to productivity. This experience inspired me to commit myself to productive engagement in work. I am created to create. Thank you Lord.

The way of escape

Sometimes, the things that beset us are overwhelming. Trying times that offer no hope of recovery. Everywhere you turn, the verdict is the same: no way through. However, God said He will show us the way of escape.

In our desperation and seasons of weeping, it is easy to miss the way of escape. The eyes have to be clear to see and the mind clear to navigate. Not that easy when feelings of despondency are so crushing. What can you do when you do not know what to do?

First, do not give up completely. Still believe, as Job did, that there is life after the worst of adversity (Job 14:14; 19;24,25).

Second, maintain the integrity of God and His word. If He said there's a way out, then expect a way, no matter how long you have to wait.

Third, take a break and restrategise. Those who take a break with the Lord will renew their strength.

Fourth, be prepared to fight your way through. Even after the Lord shows you the way, the enemy may still want to hinder your progress.

There is wisdom available for those who seek. Lord show me the way through and I will live.

The pursuit of happyness

I was deeply touched after watching the story of Chris Gardner, acted by Will Smith and his son Jader (The Pursuit of Happyness). My wife and I then watched it together and she was equally touched. Why were we so moved? Well, not only was the film well-produced, everyone can gain inspiration from a determined and successful pursuit of a well-defined dream. "Happyness" is the dream of the whole of humanity (if only we would know the Source of True Joy!).

Even entire nations are in pursuit of happiness and prosperity. The nation of Nigeria just concluded their presidential elections and for many, there is still a way to go before achieving the dream of national happiness. The journey towards attainment is more important than the attainment itself - which is why we cannot give up pursuit.

I confess that my eyes were teary after watching "The Attainment." When you look back, every sacrifice will prove worthwhile. God gives grace to those who are determined to run the race. Lord I receive!

Internal Warfare, External Victory

The battles of life are hottest in the mind. Until we win on the inside, victory will not be a reality on the outside. It does not matter the amount of struggles we face, if we remain intact within, we will ultimately overcome.

We are hard pressed on every side, but not destroyed. This means, as situations mount up around us, we would still stand strong if we are not destroyed within. The moment we quit in our minds, the body will find it difficult to carry on the fight, talk less of claim victory.

Father, I refuse to give up and quit. I will fight the good fight of faith unto the end. Amen.

Circumcision of the heart

Just came back from church, where I preached on Crucified With Christ. We have been looking at circumcision for a while, a necessary step for entering into God's fullness. Death has to work in us for God's life to flow through us, and there is no other way round this level of sacrifice.

There are alternative "gospels" out there, but God only approves of the message of the cross. Not just the cross that Christ died upon, but the one we need to carry daily. "I die daily" is the true confession of someone who has chosen God's away above man's.

Thank God for the word that is able to give us an inheritance amongst the saints. May the Spirit of truth continue to guide us into all that the Father has for us. The truth that we know in our experience will surely bring us freedom and authority. May your word change our hearts for good and forever. Amen.

Joy!

I came back home from a one-week trip away from home and had the joy of seeing my family again. Although the journey home was tiring and I was quite discomforted, the thought of seeing everyone again kept me going.

My dear wife opened the door and her face said it all. My daughter came screeming as she heard my voice! My son was asleep. Thank God for family. This is (should be) the place of intimacy and joy.

Father thank you for family. I pray for restoration in families around the world. May homes be the joyous place you created them to be. Amen.

Looking back, looking forward

Friends. I look back and thank God for the friends I have had over the years. God-given friends. This week has been a time of reflection after the privilege of spending time with friends, some of many years.

What touches me most is to witness how God has been dealing with each one, leading them step by step into purpose and destiny. Nothing just happens. Every manifestation of success has a history of dealings.

I now look forward to the things God will be doing through my dear friends, people God has raised for unique assignments. Not only will I be glad to be associated with them, God will also be praised for the exploits they will accomplish in the kingdom.

Thank you Father for the impact of my friends in my life, and the contributions I have made in theirs. Watch over them I pray. May we all bring glory to your name in our generation. Amen.

God can use anyone

What does God require of us before He uses us? You may think up a long list of requirements for sacred service, but all He requires is availability.

We are quick to disqualify ourselves because of our perceived inabilities, but God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise; the weak to overturn the strong. So, God can use you in spite of you. That takes the pressure off!

I surrender my life to you, dear Lord. If you can use anything, then use me. If there is anything you can do with this 'nothing', then by Your Spirit, do something that no one else can do; something that I cannot do by myself - use me for your glory. Amen.

For better, for worse

I recall the words of the marriage covenant this morning. A man pledges to his bride to love her no matter what condition they pass through. The woman does the same, committing herself to love "in sickness and in health, for better for worse." Some have said these statements should not be included in the marriage vows because they are 'negative.' I don't have a problem with them because they reflect an understanding that true covenant is unconditional commitment.

God did not promise us a life without tribulation. What He promised us is victory at every turn. Each battle has something to teach us; each victory brings glory to God in a new way. So, whatever the conditions of our lives, we can commit to God and be sure that He is committed to us. Paul said he learnt how to abound and be abased (Phil 4:12). He concluded that nothing can separate him from the love of Christ (Romans 8:35-39). This is covenant - "for better, for worse."

In just over 24 hours time, I shall be in the plane again. But I'm having to use Benylin for Flu to overcome a bit of aches and fever in my body. I'm having to trust God for the family's daily bread. In spite of these, my pledge of commitment is not waning. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Catching up!

There's so much to catch up on after weeks of a dead internet connection and days of being out of the country! Did I miss blogging? Yes!...

Thanks to God, anyway, for all that has transpired. What is foremost on my mind at the moment is preparations for another travel in 2 days. I have not had time to rest, it seems. Catching up with the children has been priority, and with my Mrs. of course. We spent the day together yesterday, which was very good (and we'll spend a bit more tomorrow). It's really not easy to leave family two times in a row, and just a few days after each other...

But God gives grace. He helps us through moments like these...

I've been able to catch up with my loved ones, and hopefully, will do the same with my blogs. The journey continues!

In the air!

Not quite yet. In a few minutes time, I'll be airborne to Kiev. God Embassy is 13 and Pastor Sunday is 40! Exciting!

Now, there's a lot to look forward to in this trip. A lot will be said when I come back (hope I'll be able to post a blog or two in Kiev)....

Racing against time in Gatwick airport... Lee's counting down the minutes beside me... fun! (good to have learnt touch typing).

Lord, make this trip special. I am looking up to you... Love ya!

Crying stones

The Greatest Well-digger in the World was dedicated last Saturday. The presence of God was amongst us and much happened that will, I believe, impact our land for good. I spoke a word from Luke 19, concerning the events surrounding Christ's entry into Jerusalem. The disciples welcomed Christ with jubilation and loud praise but the Pharisees asked Jesus to rebuke them. He didn't. Instead He said the stones will rise up in their place if they keep silent.

I have been thinking since then. In many ways, I feel like a stone crying out, a stone that has been given a voice for such a time as this. The things that God is asking to be done, I feel, has been demanded of many before now. I now have to step into an arena that others have refused to step into; I have to take up a mantle that others have rejected. This is humbling and sacred.

I am aware too, that as a stone, if I refuse to cry out, there are other stones waiting in line to do what I am now being asked to do. Lord help me! I surrender to you and will do anything you ask me to do. Only be glorified, I pray. Amen.
